The family journey through life begins with the birth of a child....a time of great expectations. If a child is born with a developmental disability, the family's expectations may be challenged by many questions and concerns.


ARC/Advocacy & Resource Center understands the unique feelings of these families and assists them by providing:

  • Information on specific disabilities

  •  Linkages to community resources

  • Assistance in locating financial supports

  • Access to other parents "who have been there"

  •  Family  support services

Childhood

As the child matures, the family may encounter obstacles as they journey along new and unexplored paths. The ARC/Advocacy & Resource Center is there to provide supports to the family which include:

  •  Parent Assistance Respite Training

  •  Educational advocacy services

  •  Workshop & training opportunities

  •  Resource lending library

  • Computerized information & referral services

As the family journeys with their loved one through the phases of adulthood, issues of independence and self-sufficiency emerge. ARC/Advocacy & Resource Center offers supports to both the individual and the family which include:

  •  Rights & benefits assistance

  • Community Education
